About Kim

Professional Background

I have a master’s degree in social work. I also received intensive training in Mindfulness Meditation from the Penn Program for Mindfulness. In my clinical practice, I integrate traditional therapy with mindfulness techniques. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an emerging technique that enhances traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the psychological strategies of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation.

As a Person-Centered Therapist, I provide a safe and warm environment in which clients can work through their issues. I give my full attention to clients and work with them on issues that they find are interfering with their lives.

I have over 25 years of experience. I provide individual and couples therapy and work with adults 20 years of age and beyond. I am deeply committed to my clients and have helped them address a variety of issues, such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Stress management

What do the acronyms mean?

LLC

LLC stands for Limited Liability Company. LLC is a business structure that lets state and federal governments distinguish my business from me as an individual. I needed to establish as a business because I am in private practice.

MSW

MSW stands for Master’s in Social Work. I earned my master’s degree at University of Pennsylvania.

LCSW

LCSW stands for Licensed Clinical Social Worker. This state license means that I have met the requirements and have been approved according to the standards set by the New Jersey State Board of Social Work Examiners. In order to renew my license every two years, I have to have at least 20 hours of continuing education every year. Therefore, I attend training and workshops throughout the year.

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker is acknowledged as a professional to treat mental health problems. Therefore I am eligible to be a behavioral health provider with various health insurance plans.
